Message some general stuff-

although the ls-1 displaces nearly twice as much as the VG30, I don't believe it weighs any more due to the aluminim block and compact valvetrain.

Theoretically, the VG30DETT is actually capable of supporting higher hp #'s- its more rugged. This is one disadvantage of the Al block in the chevy motor.

Are you sure you know what you're getting into? I don't believe there is much information at all on this swap. Even with having tons of information and with the compatability of components, an NA-TT conversion is still a major hassle. There would be TONS of custom work in a LS1 conversion. I don't mean to discourage you neccessarily- I think it would be a nice engine in a Z; light, torquey, responsive, and actually decently revvable (not a word). I just don't want to see you start this project with enthusiasm and then give up halfway through.

BTW- why not drop in an LS6?
